In the heart of Housman country, we heard the premiere of Graham Lloyd’s masterly transcription for piano accompaniment of Ian Venables’ powerful Songs of Eternity and Sorrow, first heard in its original version with added string quartet at Ludlow last year, and given here with immense sympathy by Andrew Kennedy and Simon Lepper.
